Higurashi Mahjong Adventure Game ‘Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Jong REMASTER

City Connection has announced the remastered mahjong adventure game Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Jong REMASTER for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam in Japan in 2027.

The remaster will support Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese. An English language option has not been announced.

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Jong REMASTER turns the cast and setting of Higurashi into competitive two-player Riichi Mahjong matches. Matches incorporate special abilities and cheating mechanics rather than strictly following conventional play.

Three modes are included. Oyashiro Mode follows Keiichi Maebara as he participates in mahjong matches while attempting to prevent the tragedy in Hinamizawa. Players can use unfair tactics during matches, with the scenario ultimately leading toward a true ending.

Club Mode allows players to set up matches between different club members with penalty games at stake. Club Mode Extra: Paikuzushi Chapter brings back the scenario originally added to the handheld version, with additional cutscenes earned by winning matches.

The remaster retains animated sequences for character entrances, special moves, matches, and reward scenes. An Auto Mode is also available for players unfamiliar with mahjong, letting the CPU play on their behalf.

Clearing the main game opens additional content, including artwork from guest artists such as Poyoyon Rock. A Bonus Gallery features illustrations accompanied by audio dramas.
