Dark Adventure ONYX: The Dark Grip Announced for Switch 2, Uses Touchscreen

Broken Mirror Games, a co-development label from Bloober Team, has announced its dark adventure game ONYX: The Dark Grip for Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027.

ONYX: The Dark Grip occurs in an isolated town caught in an endless winter. Players control two connected roles: The Vessel and The God. The Vessel is an ordinary man struggling to survive, while The God is an entity possessing him.

As The Vessel, players explore the town, manage limited resources, fight enemies, and survive the cold. The God provides a different form of interaction, allowing players to directly interfere with the environment when The Vessel cannot handle a situation through his own abilities.

Players will be able to touch the screen to manipulate objects, tilt the system to use The God’s power against enemies, and blow into the microphone to warm The Vessel before he freezes.

Polish musician Jan Borysewicz is composing the original score, which the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra will perform.

Piotr Babieno, CEO of Bloober Team, said the following:

Nintendo has always believed that the hardware itself can be part of the magic of a game. With ONYX: The Dark Grip, we wanted to take that philosophy somewhere darker. We asked ourselves: what if the player wasn’t simply holding the console, but holding another person’s world in their hands? That idea became the foundation of the entire game.
